I have been working with CRM for a decade now, and my experience with SugarCRM dates way back to their version 4 (currently leading towards version 8). SugarCRM is a powerful CRM software that’s been around for years, and originally started as an open source project, forking back in 2007 to a commercial open-source license.
The characteristics of this software : it’s running PHP on a lamp stack, Windows of Linux, it has a flexible API, and it is easy to customize by an end user to create modules and mold the CRM to each business needs. As such, i made quite some interesting usage of SugarCRM for clients over the years :
I have many more examples of fantastic usage of SugarCRM in the real world that i keep for later ! I have read examples of usage that also shows the flexibility of the system, like this excellent example from Enrico Simonetti who posted on his blog the integration of an Arduino with SugarCRM to display via LED the amount of “new” support tickets received. I often laugh with clients when i explain that SugarCRM could make coffee. But technically : it could !
